world cup so far

after almost 2 full days its been some exciting action.

germany and costa rica scored more goals in a opening game that any previous world cup, germany wins 4-2.

ecuador upsets(?) poland 2-0

only game ever to finish 1-0 on an own goal in the world cup, england beat paraguay in an un-eventful game.

the most exciting game i've seen in quite a while, huge underdogs trinidad and tobago tie mighty sweeden 0 - 0, and people don't like soccer cause of low scoring, retards.

argentina up on the ivory coast 1 - 0 half way thru the 1st half in a pretty good game so far.

but during this game one of the announcers says that this is for sure the group of death (the argentia group).  for those that don't know, the world cup starts out with 8 goups of 4 teams, they play a round robin and the top 2 advance to single elimination.  typically the one group with the strongest set of teams is considered the group of death.

the numbers represent the current world ranking of each team.  each team has 2 teams in the top 10 (one has 2 in the top 5!).  Each group has 1 team in the 40's.  There is quite a difference between the 3rd place teams in each group, Italy at 13 vs Ivory Coast at 32.

seems pretty obvious to me that the group of death is group E.

oh yeah, and now argentina is up 2-0.  they look pretty damm good.
