linux is okay

there are a couple reasons why i don't have all linux computers at my house, iTunes has become a big reason.  still some of the distros don't have the greatest driver support, but i guess those are old computers - windows would probably choke on the old nic's.  anyway, check it out:

what would replace iTunes on linux for me, anybody know??

Yo Dan!
If you're serious about going totally linux and using your iPod, you have two choices:
1: Go totally linux (and free) by using gtkpod. http://www.gtkpod.org/about.html
It's terribly complex to set up compared to iTunes on PC or Mac, but it works well. YMMV
2: Buy something. Either buy CrossOver Office (which runs iTunes well but requires some hotplug trickery to get the iPod to work), or buy VMWare, install Windows, and install iTunes (haven't tried this yet due to crap for home computers).

One of the really flash things that you can do with linux is actually serve up your songs to all your computers by using daapd http://www.deleet.de/projekte/daap/daapd/
You'll need to install Rendevous to get it to work ... but it's all free.

Enjoy

Free is good ... especially when it's beer (or linux).
