scrubs deja-vu
last week on tuesday i was sleeping when my favorite show SCUBS came on. Jill woke me up to tell me it had started. Close to the beginning of the eposode (I missed everthing before the song) JD is having some hospital deja-vu. Well as there was hockey on the other channel, i quickly wrote it off as a re-run, cause i was having my own scrubs deja-vu. only later was i informed that it was in fact not a re-run. so i'm finally watching it tonite, and dammit that is a good show.
getting close to 4 minutes!
another mile run today, i improved my time by 50 seconds. thats what a little competition will do i guess!
4 minutes by the end of summer!

pants off dance off
earlier this weekend i was browsing thru the tv channels late at nite. i came across pants off dance off which i heard about as being recommened by milla-killa. so i flicked the tv to that channel to check it out. so i imagine most people have not seen this show. first i was watching a black guy doing a strip tease with some type of video playing in the background. so that was really weird. then the song ends a new person comes on to strip to another song. so i'm thinking okay maybe kari wuhrer will be stripping to a guns n' roses song next, i'll stick around for a while. well after a commercial and lots of anticipation, the show comes back on and there is a hippie-type guy stripping to an usher song. you get to know the people as they strip and aparently this guy thought his own nakedness helped other people understand who they really are. right as i heard that i changed the channel to a late nite cinemax movie for about 10 minutes before i went to sleep. that did teach me a lot about myself, i want to know what channel kari wuhrer is stripping on!

4 minute mile results
well the response was almost overwhelming, 3 people took a guess! neal, i guess you have absolutely no faith in me, thanks....
the other two guesses were both pretty close. the real time was 8:22. that puts beirwoman off by only 10 seconds. defrance gets a 20 second bonus for being the only one to be under the real time, putting him at only 9 seconds off!
d'France wins! and that is something the ottawa senators surely won't do again this season!!!

NHL Playoffs!
Hurricanes 3 - 0 Devils
Sabres 3 - 0 Senators
Mighty Ducks 3 - 0 Avalanche
Sharks 3 - 0 Oilers (hopefully, sharks up 2-1 at 2nd intermission of game 3)
what could be better! other than the avalanche being up 3-0.
SHARKS TO WIN IT ALL

the 4 minute mile
I decided to go down 2 blocks after work and run a mile yesterday, I had to blow off steam from work somehow and there is a nice track there. I think the last time i ran a mile that was timed i must have been in high school, so i just hoped that my time did not double since then, that was my goal.
any guesses about what my time was? if anyone guesses right on, you get a kidpurple t-shirt. closest person gets an optional kick in the ass!

something is f'd up
A) 4 people voted (think) that 14 years old kids (and younger?) should be able to get married
B) some dude is in jail for what he did to (with) a minor, but thats cool if he marries that same person.
C) that no one has made any lame "dan, your not in kansas anymore" comment to me in a long time.
D) a 15 year old boy married a 37 year old woman, so they change the min age to 16 in georgia, cause in that case 21 years is acceptable, but 22 - fuck that.

got at least one right
the oilers finished off the red wings tonite, and it was a hell of a good game. red wings up 2-0 at the start of the 3rd, oilers fight back to tie, red wings take the lead again, oilers tie it up and with a minute left take the lead! now if the flames can take one, i'll be 2 for 2!

i was high and danced with a monster!
i wonder what the newest guy at work thinks when he's sitting at my comuter and google talk pops up my email notifications with the subjects:
Fun Game--I loved a Mexican because I was high
and
I danced with a monster because that's how I roll.

the universe is really big aparently

wiki wiki
I was in the process of getting some new web space the other day, so I set up an account with a host that has some un-reasonable database policies. I had to move that site to a different host, but this one was offering free .info domain names, so i snatched up danschwartz.info. now i have 2 danschwartz domain names! anyway, i have no reason to have such a website so i decided to create the official dan schwartz wiki. don't ask me what the purpose of it is. the whole idea behind a wiki is that anyone can edit/create pages and it keeps track of a version history of all the pages. so feel free to get into it and rip shit up if you like.

tryin to work this morn
i usually listen to lex and terry on q98 in the mornings, and this morn it made work really hard to focus on. they had a hyptnotist hyptnotize 4 or 5 guys on the show. it was too damm funny to try to be really productive during. at one point all they guys were the guys from queer eye for the strait guy and they were talking about what they'd do to the studio and to lex and terry. holy shit it was funny. if you know how, you should definetly download the podcast of it. if you don't know how to, download and install itunes, and then you search for lex and terry in podcasts. it wouldn't take a genius to figure out. here is another picture from the gravy/nicola wedding, its pretty self explanatory whats going on in this picture i think. or maybe its not. allright, i have no idea whats happening. blake has spotted a fight in the crowd, hungus is high fiving some youngs kids who think he's cool cause he's tall and smokes, the morkstrill is adjusting her hearing aids, and michelle just got the joke that milla-killa told her 10 minutes ago, and now she finds it awfully funny!

flood watch '06
if you watch nbc news in fargo, that is what the news starts with, flood watch '06!!
just about all our snow dissiapeared in a couple of days, and we had a lot. so in case you haven't heard, we're on the verge of a big flood. its pretty nice out so i biked over to goosebury park and took a couple of pictures. i didn't see any water actually reaching to any houses but within a couple of feet from some houses. backyard sheds were underwater in some areas. well here are a couple pictures:

its been a while since i've gotten around to posting the picture of the day due to my excessive WoW playing. My druid is kickin some ass and i'll get some screenshot here cause i'm sure thats what you all want to see!
anyway, here i give the thumbs up after a hard fought victory. i beleive this is after the game that we beat the brandon team in brandon in the championship game. our first game vs this team was brutal and we lost 2-0, but this was a great game, kevin got a red card and bob came into goal and saved a pk with his first touch. i think i had 2 goals and 2 assists in our eventualy 5-4 victory. that was one of my favorite games to play in!

signs the world is coming to an end
it is true, this proves that the world is coming to an end, starting in Arkansas.
i'm all for freedom of religion (isn't that one of the major issues that this country was founded on) and freedom of speech (another one).
so it just seems crazy to me that scientific facts would be censored because of some people's religious beleifs. yes I say fact, it is a FACT that species evolve, and here's the proof:
the bible people who protest even the mention of the word evolution beleive that the bible is a history book, and take everything written in it as a fact (at least those who i've argued with). in that history, 2 people were "created", and fast forward many years you have us today. now call me crazy, but the earth is populated with many different kinds of people. yes, argue that we're all human, but there are biological differences between you and someone that lives on the other side of the earth. if a species did not evolve, mutate, (genetic drift) this would not be possible. if it is, please explain.
anyway, this type of stuff just makes me kinda mad, so i flame here, and get on with my life.
annoying, isn't it.
i know, i'm done....

oblivion
I call up my local gamestop to see if they are selling oblivion today or tomorrow. there is a big argument about when the game should be available, cause the publishers have said it has a ship date of marth 20th. So I'm going ot ask if they have it for sale today or tomorrow, and here is the conversation:
dude from gamestop (DFG): "Gamestop how can i help you " blah blah whatever...
me: do you guys have the elder sc
DFG: TOMORROW
me: okay
DFG: did you pre-order it?
me: no
DFG: if you want to get a copy you should, every call has been for that game and there aren't many left.
so i at least have a copy reserved, but i thought to myself "bummer, i have to wait till tomorrow"
then i thought to myself "its too bad (maybe even a bummer) that you don't really hear people say 'bummer' very often anymore"
so no oblivion for me tonite, dammit.

19th birthday?
what the hell
you've read about my hatred of myspace before. this is due to the fact that you had to be logged in to see anything more than the annoying profile page with the annoying music videos or music that just starts playing. i want to read a person's blog and just don't care about anything that is on the profile page. i only realized that this is very possible without logging in thanks to links on the new blog of the ultimate p experience! So i went thru my myspace friends to see which of them actually kept any bit of a blog and this is what i came up with, enjoy:

i'm still pumped for oblivion to come out next week. if it were on sale today i'd go get it right now, and probably not sleep much this weekend.
not too much interest in the tournament pick'em this year. Balls of Gold is in the lead with 12 points, then schwartz_dj and Terry Bolea are tied with 11. I at least have all of my eliete 8 teams alive, both of those guys had Okalhoma making it to the round of 8!! and neither of them has picked the Jayhawks to win it all.. suckers!

oblivion
Thanks to Jon I am now looking forward to a monday. this coming monday (the 20th) is the day the elder scrolls 4 comes out, Oblivion!
check this out for some vidoes. be sure to download the big one "Extensive Gameplay Footage".
Even just talking about it really makes me want to go get my morrowind disc out and install that sucker.
So on monday I'll buy Oblivion, start playing right away, develop a habit, write here about how much i love oblivion and it is the greatest game ever, piss off all my friends who got guild wars after i did, eventually lose all my friends, but I'll still be able to play oblivion. now don't get me wrong, i love being able to play online with you guys, i do. BUT, morrowind was the eassily best game i have ever played. i can only expect that oblivion will be just as good and many notches better! judging from the videos and screenshots i've seen it looks awesome. i haven't been able to read much about it yet tho.
dammit, i really wanna play, guess i have to wait till monday....... thanks jon, my mind is gonna be on oblivion all weekend.

movies i like to watch on monday nite
i watched open water last nite, the movie that is made up of 2 people in the middle of the ocean. i remember seeing advertisments for this years ago and thinking it looked really bad, but last nite was a bad nite for movies on tv. well anyway, for a movie that is made up mostly of 2 people floating, it was surprisingly good. i'm not saying it was a great movie or anything, but not bad like i expected. i have one of those alarm clocks that has nature sounds on it, which i usually have on ocean waves, but after watching open water i decided to fall asleep in silence.
earlier in the evening last nite i watched jarhead. i got the opposite to report about this movie. i had high expectations but it turned out to be an okay movie. it wasn't bad, but i wouldn't really recommend it either.

so i swing into work about 7:20 this morning, i know i'm gonna have to wait until a co-worker gets here before i can start on what i need to do today, and this guy usually isn't in till about 9:30 - 10:00. so i spend what seems to be about an hour browsing just a couple of my favorite sites and my rss feeds, but then i check the clock and i feel like the wind was knocked out of me. it mite be a long day.....

i thought google was going out of business
when gmail and blogger were both unavailable at the same time i thought for sure google was going out of business, so i set up an emergency diet kidpurple blog on lycos. view the post i wanted to make here, over there: http://diet-kidpurple.tripod.com/emergency-blog/
cleaning up my computer room
the computer was just getting a good old cleaning, when i came across my box of old pictures. didn't think much of it until later i gave my desk and extreme desk makeover! it was exciting and i mite have pictures for you later. well maybe not so exciting, i just moved the printer to the other side of the desk to make room for my scanner.
so i decided that maybe i'd try to scan a new picture every day (or at least every day i'm downstairs) and post it here. most of these are really old so some of them should be interesting! maybe we'll even see dietrich in a dress one day!!
so here is the very first picture that i pulled out of the box. these won't come in any specific order, just the order they happen to be piled inside the box, which i'm sure is going to be a random mess.

super mario brothers race
this is impressive, some people racing thru super mario brothers. how well do you think you'd do against either of them?
mp3 / media players
now i'm pissed off. if you've been to our house, you've probably seen the computer that sits in our basement to serve one purpose: loud music. iTunes is just about the only program that runs on that thing. I adopted iTunes as my preferred music player about the time that i got my free ipod, becuase apple wants you to use their player and their music store. iTunes is great, and the probably have the best music store online, and the iPod has been great too, but this one little issue pisses me off and has me ready to get rid of the ipod and itunes to buy a creative zen mp3 player (or something else).
that juke box computer had A LOT of music on it. the hard drive died. (i haven't tried to get anything off it yet, but still might be able to) my ipod has a lot of the music from the hard drive on it. this would not be a terrible situation if i could get music from my ipod onto a different computer. it sounds like an easy task, but the way they set that shit up is i have one computer that my ipod is associated with (the jukebox that is now dead). the only action you can take is to sync the ipod with that one computer (or one playlist on it). SO, if i delete all music from the computer, syncing the ipod will delete everything from the ipod. bad situation when the computer your ipod is linked to has a dead hard drive in it.
so i'm sure i'll find some software that will allow me to get all the music off my ipod and onto a different computer, but that should be an easy task. so i've had enough of this crap. i'm ready to get rid of the ipod and pick up a new mp3 player, and a new media player.
i want an mp3 player that will:
1.) not lock me into using only one media player, not lock me into using specific audio format, and not lock me in to syncing with only one PC
2.) connect USB and transfer files with windows explorer with no additional software.
3.) have a FM tuner
i want a media player that will:
1.) organize my music library
2.) have some decent syncing options with the mp3 player i find
i'm thinking a creative zen, or one of the iRiver mp3 players, and a return to my old favorite windows media player. so i'm just looking for some good advice on the subject, anyone??
PS - it would be a special bonus if the mp3 player would also sync with a good media player for linux! (i don't know anything about media players for linux)

graffiti
i sometimes feel like i'm the only one that doesn't get it. then the train is gone, i'm on my way again and i don't think about graffiti until i'm stopped for the next train a block away. This happens in moorhead a lot since we moved here. You don't see much graffiti around town but every time a train goes by, and its a lot, there is plenty to see. so it usually looks all cool n'shit, but i'm not sure if i'm the only one that can't understand what it is supposed to say when it is a bunch of fancy lettering. just do a google image search for graffiti and you'll know what i mean, unless i really am the only one that just doesn't get it. some of it is some pretty awesome artwork, but i feel like i'm missing out just cause i can't usually read it. i have to know if i am all alone in my graffiti illiteracy loneliness or not, let me know. when will you retire?
Why is your grandfather still on ice skates? wasn't chris chelios the player to appear in the nba all-star game 18 times? isn't chris chelios one of the smallest countries in south america? did chris chelios kill king tut? wasn't world war one fought over the attempted assanation of chris chelios? did chris chelios win a silver medal at the very first olympics? did chris chelios kill off the dinosaurs to impress his girlfriend?
last nite
it made me pretty happy to read that jessica simpson is a republican. that is just great news for everyone!!!

ONE
If there is one thing I hate, its not celebrities trying to tell me what i should think or do, BUT it is on a list of things i highly dis-like.
now that that is out of the way, i bet you've seen those black and white commericals with a bunch of celebrities each saying a couple words that mesh into each other to form sentences and if we were writing things down, paragraphs. did you ever bother to go to that website brad pitt told you to? it seems like a worthy cause that they want to promote, and dikembe mutombo is aboard, so why shouldn't we be? eddie veddar, dikembe, puff daddy are all mega-rich superstars comapred to anyone who is reading this, and anyone who is reading this is a probably a mega-rich superstar compared to most of the people they want to get help to.

thanks to flyingears for this!

work is a weird thing
1. Is anyone looking for a job at a small technology company? let me know if you are (or you know someone who is) looking for a job writing Java, writing C#, as a project manager, designer, or whatever else you think might fit in well with a small company that does mainly web applications.
2. Do you have any ideas of a product/website/application that you think would be usefull? The company I work for is thinking about product ideas that we might be able to develop, but we have not settled on anything yet, and ideas are worth a percentage of sales! If you give me a great idea that makes me rich, you'll be properly compensated!
and now, i should get back to work...

moronic? maybe, but....
here is a funny story about a dude who goes to the police for help in getting his money back from his drug dealer because the marijuana he bought was not good. its true someone really did that.
http://tinyurl.com/fnmoc
but the real moronic part of the story is that up to 30 grams is leagal for personal use in germany, but the dude took 200 grams with him to the police station, so he got arrested.
even dumber is the fact that 30 grams of marijuana is legal for personal use, but 40 grams will get you arrested. that sounds like some dumb american law. wait a minute, nope.... american laws are far dumber than that. is really makes me wish i lived in the czech republic, they have a good hockey team AND a good soccer team!

Bring It On!
This is an open challenge to take on team ____________ in a game of NHL 04 or 05. We don't have a team name but out team consists of (along with myself) NealyB and the tall urban north dakota frenchman. We are taking any 3v3 challenges that you can come up with, but you better bring it hard, we are undefeated as a team. Now we just need a team name.
this website sure does change a lot
yeah, i guess i like to fack with it. its gets stale real quick. let me know if you see a look that you like or one that you don't like. one of these days i'll get sick of changing it and leave it alone, and that'll be the day i never change my email address too!

Now all i need to do is find somewhere i can download the instructions cause I ain't got any...

almost went to the ER
its so damm cold out today that my skull cracked just form walking out into the cold. just like you would expect a fragile glass vase to crack if you took it on an adventure of extreme temperature changes. i almost fell in the middle of the street, surely to make it my frozen grave, but i survived, because the crazy was immediately frozen shut. i'm never going outside in february again!
oragami world championships
so most of you know that i am an oragami grand master wizard of the highest rank. i've never been crowned world oragami champion (due to the scoring scandal of 2001), but i think this might be my year. have a look at some of my latest work here: http://www11.ocn.ne.jp/~origami/phototop.htm

It turns out that mark can see and talk to the ghost or the spirit of reese, but no one else can. at first they only get on each others' nerves, but when a sexy neighbor shows up and has the hots for mark, it becomes aparent that mark and reese's ghost are in love. her ghost thinks she's still alive, and together they figure out that her body is stuck in the hospital she used to work at, in a coma. totally unpredictably his love for her brings her strait out of the coma, but she doesn't remeber him when she wakes up. that is only until he gives her his apartment key back, the touch of his hand flashes her memory and she sees it all in a split second, they kiss and credits roll! wow, thats awesome!!!!

change is goooood
wow, a new look to the site, again. it never seems to stay the same for long. click on the google ads above if you see something interesting, it really does make me money! i'm gonna get rid of the stale blogroll and links on the right and replace it with something cool, but i'll probably procrastinate a long time on that and end up not getting anything else done here ever again...
i'm gonna be in minneapolis this weekend if any KP readers are out there, give me a call! we're gonna rip it up in brooklyn center on saturday nite!

right here right now
there is no other place i want to be...
these are the lyrics i hear, i'm listening to jesus jones in the basement in the dark and i thought to myself "there are many places i'd rather be". so i'm going to finish writing this, stand up, and move to a new location. i feel terrible that i haven't written much here recently, nothing at all this week actually. well i don't feel bad at all, i was just kidding. i'm not a write and i make no money doing this, but it is satisfying as hell! ok, i'm making shit up again, its hardly even satisfying.
well anyway, i'm just wasting time while scrubs downloads. i was getting around to thinking about the crap that i like to read when i'm online and there are some cool blogs that i usually check out. one of them is by a good friend and i'd love to share it with you but there is a problem. the problem is myspace. i don't want to have to log in to read your shit. damm.... myspace is cool, ya ya, you can show off how many "friends" you have, wow. c'mon, you've got some interesting stuff that i like to read.
the only advantage of myspace is that it gives you control over who gets to read your blog, although you are limited to the set of people that you know that are willing to create a myspace account and actually log in to read it. so i know the person i'm talking about is reading this (or will be, or has already), so i ask: why not ditch myspace, create a free blog ( http://www.blogger.com/ or http://wordpress.com/ or http://www.livejournal.com/) and let the world enjoy it! i use blogger for this site!

well anyway, i'm just wasting time while scrubs downloads. i was getting around to thinking about the crap that i like to read when i'm online and there are some cool blogs that i usually check out. one of them is by a good friend and i'd love to share it with you but there is a problem. the problem is myspace. i don't want to have to log in to read your shit. damm.... myspace is cool, ya ya, you can show off how many "friends" you have, wow. c'mon, you've got some interesting stuff that i like to read.

i'm attempting to grow a beard for the april 28th wedding. i've never done this before and i'm pretty sure that i'll look really goofy with a beard, if i am even able to grow something decent. so i'll post some pictures soon i think. that should be mildly entertaining for you!

ubuntu
I've never had an easier time installing an operating system as i just did install ubuntu earlier tonite! for those of you that don't know, ubuntu is one distribution of linux which has gained popularity recently. its much easier to install than windows, but doing stuff like installing applications could be a little bit easier. getting a new version of firefox was not the easiest thing in the world to do but now i'm using it to write this post.
i would be willing to bet that any normal computer user would have an easier time installing ubuntu linux and getting a browser to work than doing the same with any version of windows.

I like it, maybe a step closer to ditching windows on most of my computers.
