Game On

amazon.comTribes has been a fun game since the first one. I've had all of them, up to but not including this one. I have played the demo and I will have this one eventually!

amazon.comWorms is another game that has had many years of fun spanning many different game versions. World Party is the one I frequent today!

amazon.comRise of Nations de-throned Age of Empires 2 as the RTS of choice a while ago. Its a combo of aoe and command and conquer, great stuff!

amazon.comStarcraft was the original RTS (well if you don't count warcraft). I think aoe is probably the only game i spent more time playing. if you computer isn't quite up to date, starcraft should be fine on it!

amazon.comGuild Wars replaced World of Warcraft for me recently. It maybe isn't quite as good a game as Wow, but there are no monthly fees! That will save you $170/year. I just sith i knew more people that played, come on, join our guild.

amazon.comUnreal Tournament 2004 used to be the FPS of choice, after replacing quake on the list. Tribes is fighting for that spot right now, but they are both very good games.

amazon.comCommand & Conquer: Generals is a very fun military type RTS. it is a top 5 RTS game, but overall, not as good as RON.

I wish i could put battlefield 2 on the list, but yet i don't have it. these are gonna be only games that i'll have on my laptop and will be ready to play if you get it and get online!

They are not in heaven, since they fuck the wives of Ely

Do you remember in the movie the doors when they were going to play "Light My Fire" on a tv show and Jim Morrison was told not to say the word "higher"?  that would seem pretty silly in the world we are living in today i would think, but then i heard something on the radio that makes me think i'll never turn on a radio again (oh fuck, the radio is still on, scratch that).  It started to make me think about how a simple word doesn't stir up a mess, but the meaning behind it does.  well at least in certain cases.  "high" is not a vulgar word worthy of censorship, but thats whay i heard bleeped out this morning.

I know that me writing this here for all 5 of you that read this isn't going to change anything, its just something that i find to be rather stupid, and i've got some time to kill this morn.  So how many different way would it be acceptable to say: (on radio or tv) "Charger fucks bitches like its his fucking mission"

"We got busted getting high in the back of my friends van"

i started to think about the history of words: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuck

simple uTorrent setup

(i'm having trouble uploading my images rite now, they'll be here eventually. let me know if i need to make any corrections here.)

This is my simple guide to downloading movies, tv shows, music, or whatever you want with bittorrent. I recently dumped the blue from and started using uTorrent, so thats what i use for this guide. Its fairly simple, just follow the next several steps and you'll be downloading in no time.

step 1. prepare you hard drvie: first go into "My Computer" onto your main drive (probably C:). there you want to create 2 new directories (right click --> new --> folder). make one called "torrents-temp" and ome called "torrents-complete".

step 2: download uTorrent from http://www.utorrent.com/download.php. I would create a directory like C:\Program Files\utorrent and save the file into that directory. This is important because you don't want to save the file to a place (like your desktop) where it mite eassily get deleted. The file you download is the whole program, not a file that installs the program and then is trashed.

step 3: after downloading, find utorrent.exe and double click it. it will ask you 2 things to start, say yes to both of them. first it will put shorcuts in the start menu and on your desktop to start utorrent, then it will make utorrent be the default bittorrent program. after this you should have the main screen just waiting for your next action.

step 4: change some of the settings. to get to the setting click Options --> Preferences. there are really only 2 screens you'll have to change any settings on, i have screen shot of my settings below:

utorrent1

utorrent2

step 5: start searching for what you want to download. in the upper right hand corner of the window there is a search box. click on the magnifying glass to see that you can search different engines. for now leave it on the first one in the list, thats what the rest of this guide will use. later you can experiment searching the others. the process is very similar for those others as well. then type in the box what you want to search for and hit return

utorrent3

step 6: when you submit the search it will open a browser with your search results

utorrent4

there are several important things to notice on this screen. first, if you determine one of the results is something you'd like to download, the name of it is a link to a details page. look at the size of the file, if you have a slow connection its gonna take a long time to download a 4GB DVD file. The Seeds is the number of people who have the whole file that you could download it from, the higher the better. The leachers is the number of people curently downloading the file which is probably not important to you.

click on the name if you want to download, this will take you to the details page. here you just have to click the name again.

utorrent 5

this should open a window asking you if you want to open the torrent or save it. you should be able to open and you want to select uTorrent to open it with.

now you should see the following screen with one line for each torrent that is downloading. the torrents usually start out really slow but pick up speed as they go so don't worry if its really slow to start. once a torrent is done downloading you can highlight it and click stop. then you can find the files in C:\torrents-complete. you can move the files from there and do whatever you want with them.

good luck!

more guild wars

Onree created a guild and we got our capes! this is the design that he made. i'm too tired to play much more, i hate this game anyway.....

traveling on ice

i guess its pretty icy out.  it took about an hour to drive about 30 miles this afternoon.  at one point i was picturing a wal-mart truck falling over and squishing us while track #7 on this album played on the stereo.  I thought it was all over, I thought I wasn't going to get to say goodbye to all you loyal KP readers.  I saw it all happening in slow motion.  the walmart truck spins out of control just as i'm passing him.  it starts to jack knife in the road and then suddenly just flips over on the top of our car, totally squishing us.  as traffic stops behind the accident there are people looting the truck, fighting over x-box 360's and laptops.

but thankfully none of that happened and we made it home!

read the article

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051118/od_nm/odd_words_dc

whatever it sounds like, doesn't it mean the same shit?  people really should have better shit to worry about.

speaking of dumb ass, i'm watching what must be celebrity weakest link.  That crazy bitch asked vince neal what continent the country of senegal was on, his answer: "India".  Shelia E answered cheeta when asked what pit viper was named for its noise making tail.  Coolio was statistically the strongest link, and sebastian bach was busy hitting on the young blonde next to him.

if it were up to me, i'd re-name the show "Dumbest muther fucker", because they shouldn't make fun of "weak" people.

coolio and sebastian bach are surprisingly good at this game.  vince neal and debbie gibson are pretty bad.  i don't know who the other chic is, but she ain't that great either.

great feeling:  waking up and immediately thinking its time to get up and get ready for work, only to look at the clock to see you can sleep for 4 more hours!

terrible feeling:  waking up and thinking you must have about 4 more hours to sleep to then look at the clock and realize that its about the time that you need to get up.

this morning: terrible.

riding bike in the snow

i think i mentioned that i bought an exercise bike last week, i've been riding every day (weekend excluded of course).  Today I went 10.61 miles in 30 minutes, my furthest distance yet!  during my ride as i really started sweating i started to think my sweat was smelling like chilli.  shit thats kinda gross that my sweat smells like chilli.  afterwards i learned that it was actually Jill cooking some type of caserole thing upstairs.  I'm glad i don't smell like cooking hamburger and onions when i sweat.  but maybe if it was just onions.....

oh yeah, and it snowed today, i'm fuckin pissed.

working

some days i really hate my job.  today is one of those days so far.  would anyone out there like to trade jobs for a week?

this will piss you off

I was watching ESPN last nite and saw something amazing.  Aparently the University of Iowa's visiting locker room in the football stadium is painted pink.  Ok, thats kinda funny!  The coach who did this in the first place was a psychology professor there (in the 70's or 80's i don't remember).  The idea is that it will throw their opponents off their game a little bit, and the stats show that they have a higher winning percentage during the time this locker room was pink!  well done Iowa.

Then they talked to some people who were mad about the pink locker room.  It wasn't any of the visiting teams who had to use the pink room.  All the Ohio State football players they interviewed kinda laughed about it and said yeah, thats a good idea.  The people who were actually upset about this were some guy (wearing a pink shirt AND tie) that was the leader of some gay rights group or something, and also a women affiliated with the National Organization of/for? Women.  They claimed the pink was supposed to represent a girlie color and that to play like a girl was a bad thing.  I hate to be the one to break this to everyone (and some will hate me for this), but playing college football like a girl would be a pretty bad thing.  Its a fact, men and women are physically different (last time i checked).  If they weren't, we'd all be hanging out with the guy in the pink shirt, and no one wants that.

I'm all for equal rights between sexes, religions, races, sexual preferences and ages.  But that fact that a mens football team is going to beat a women's football team does not mean that men and women don't have equal rights, they are just physically different.  Its not a good reason to get upset about the color of a locker room.  Aren't there more important things to worry about?

Linux!

I'm a wimp, I've wanted to get rid of my of my windows powered computers and run some sort of Linux for a while, but for some reason I just haven't yet.  Well I do have it on one machine, but thats used as a webserver, so I'm rarely on it.  So I came across an article about Linux Live CD's and one of my new favorite websites (http://digg.com).  I've used several different Linux Live CD's before, but will probably check out this Linspire one sometime.  Its kinda fun to get online and do something without having to use windows, check out the article, and then check out linux.  To get back to windows all you have to do is remove the disc and re-boot your computer.

http://www.help2go.com/article241.html

set the mark too high

I got an exercise bike today, and took it out for a ride tonite.  Its kinda fancy, its got different patterns of resistance you can go thru.  So I decided i'd ride for 30 minutes each nite.  I just started on the first program, on the lowest resistance setting.  It started out decently easy and built it up half way thru my ride.  my legs were burning at 15 minutes, but i was able to keep going pretty good.  I ended the 30 minutes at 9.93 miles.  I think that'll be hard to beat, but I will.  I also discovered Korn is good biking music.  when i had celeine dion playin, i just wasn't motived.  not only was i not motivated to keep pedeling, listening to that made me want to stop breating!

new record!

and just to waste some time while installing win2000 on an old computer....

and...

thats amazing!

John Kerry's newsletter goes to shannon and to me (and many others i'd be willing to bet). The amazing part is that shannon gets it, forwards it to me, then 2 minutes later i get it from John Kerry. That pretty quick forwarding shannon!

okay, i know john kerry's newsletter probably goes to a few more people than the KP weekly does and it probably takes quite a while to send all of them, so this isn't really amazing, but if a person didn't know any better.....

grid game

now here's a fun game. you try to create a chain reaction. its pretty simple to play, but not real easy to master, i guess its just kinda the luck of the draw, or the click in this case. notice my score, not too shabby, see if you can beat it (take your own screen shot and display it somehwere?, post your high scores here?). click on the image to go to the game.

LEAP

I was sent this link a couple days ago and still haven't had a lot of time to really go thru and read a lot of the site.  But for now I'll leave you with the first paragraph from the About LEAP page:

"After nearly four decades of fueling the U.S. policy of a war on drugs with over half-a-trillion tax dollars and increasingly punitive policies, our confined population has quadrupled over a 20 years period making building prisons this nation's fastest growing industry. More than 2.2 million of our citizens are currently incarcerated and every year we arrest an additional 1.6 million for nonviolent drug offenses‹more per capita than any country in the world. The United States has 4.6 percent of the population of the world but 22.5 percent of the world's prisoners. Every year we choose to continue this war will cost U.S. taxpayers another 69 billion dollars. Despite all the lives we have destroyed and all the money so ill spent, today illicit drugs are cheaper, more potent, and far easier to get than they were 35 years ago at the beginning of the war on drugs. Meanwhile, people continue dying in our streets while drug barons and terrorists continue to grow richer than ever before. We would suggest that this scenario must be the very definition of a failed public policy. This madness must cease!"

http://www.leap.cc/

let me know what you think!

my supreme court/your supreme court

this aint the type of thing i'd usually ever post here, but i'm making an exception tonite.  Below is cut and pasted from moveon.org.  The morkstriss's 3rd favorite website (after myspace and then kidpurple.com!):

------------------------------------------------

Subject: Rights at risk on the Supreme Court - time to speak out!

Hi, I just received an important message from MoveOn.org. Bush has caved to pressure from the far right and nominated Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court. Alito is a notoriously radical judge who has attacked workers' rights, womens' rights and civil rights for years.

Please join me in signing the emergency petition to our Senators, asking them to stand up for us and block this nomination.

http://political.moveon.org/stopalito

Thanks!

20 things about me

I've seen some people post 100 things about themselves on their website, just a list of small facts about them.  well my plan is to hopefully get 20 things about me, but from you.  either leave a comment here or send me and email, i'll gather them all and post them when i get 20.  it can be good things or bad things, i don't care.

impossible concerts

I was just thinking about concerts that would never happen but I'd really like to see.  The best one I've thought of is Cat Stevens opening for Rage Against The Machine and I mean RATM, none of this audioslave crap.

What impossible concert would you like to see?

this is weird, i am tired

kinda like some type of strange cartoon-ish reality show.  You probably wouldn't beleive it if I told you and gave no link.

Fidel Castro, Diego Maradonna, and George Bush all star in this one.  I'd throw Carson Daily into this one to boost ratings a little, too many people won't know who Maradonna is, and everyone else either hates Bush or hates Castro.  I've never met any of them but if I had to choose one to be my leader, it would definetly be the one that used to snort coke.  Oh, I guess thats not specific enough, I'd pick Maradonna!

PokerStars Sit'n'Go

Some people say that Elvis isn't dead, or that Jim Morrison is still alive. Well i discovered something tonite at the poker table. I got into a cheap 2 table sit n' go at pokerstars and made it down to the final 4 (cause i took 4th place). But check out the table and see who I got to play cards with! has anyone seen the tv movie mentioned in the article?  I watched it late one nite but was not able to stay awake for the whole thing.  So I was just wondering what all the great KP readers thought about the subject (Capital Punishment, not necessairly this particular case).

and this whole time i thought it was video games and movies that taught vengeance and violence?

dreams are sometimes weird

in this dream the 3 of us (me, casey T. and p-man) were sitting at some type of reunion thing with some girls that i vaguely remember from high school.   they were talking about what they remembered people for and who is most likeyly type of things.  they said that p-man was most likely to kill someone after high school, they remember me for my smile, and casey for having the coolest underwear

weird eh?

i have a goofy looking smile, i'm willing to bet p-man has not killed anyone, and casey's underwear are usually at least partially poopy!

i was born here, biatch...

i saw this over at the morkstriss is here dot com and thoguht i could beat her:

You Passed the US Citizenship Test

Congratulations - you got 9 out of 10 correct!

aparently i could only pull out a tie. i wonder what i got wrong, it had to be the question about the original 13 colonies. dammit. yo morkstriss, i noticed your GWB thing and wondered if he could score as good as we did on that test?????? hmmmmmm.

why the hell would i

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tinnitus

what would cause me to have this.  i'm not posotive that I do have this, but yes, my ears are often buzzing.  this is why i used to always sleep with the radio on, i hated being in a totally quiet environment for a long time.  a little noise will usually drown out the buzzing.  this buzzing is not constant, maybe i'm just going crazy.

it is worse in my left ear right now.  i'll have to pay attention to see if that is always the case.

being a royals fan

well i guess i can't name many (if any) current Kansas City Royals, but I've been a Royals fan for a long time. Does George Brett still play?

well anyway, i've gotten sick of, so I decided that the white sox are my new favorite team, and they've made it to the freaking world series, how great is that!

2 reasons i choose the white sox: 1. they were playing the red sox (neal's favorite team), 2. everyone like the damm cubs, no one likes the white sox.

GO WHITE SOX!!

exciting new: world's oldest noodle found!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051014/od_nm/noodles_dc

aparently the record for the world's oldest noodles has been broken.  that too bad because the previous record holder was a package of noodles that my grandma had in her basement. (she likes to keep stuff around for a long time)........

the burrito game

i was playing against quite a few well know poker bloggers i guess:

this guy started at my table, he didn't last really long:

she was to my left for the whole tournament (or maybe she moved to that spot very early in the game), this is who knocked me out with 77 vs my AJ

This guy came to my table half way thru the game and i think he was also at the final table:

this girl was at my table for a long time too, and she ended up winning it all:

i didn't get to sit at the same table as Wil, but he was observing my table and chatting with several of these people that he aparently knows!

it was really a lot of fun, but it would have been so much better if i could have moved up 2 spots and made the final table!

and here is another one that i found, notice me in the hand history, i folded right away!

wheres my burrito poker tournament

Well Wil Wheaton's poker tournament is over. 96 players each tossed in $10 for this one. I started out good, of course this is too early to mean absolutely anything, but hey:

so the game went on, i built up a really nice big stack, but with about 5 tables left, my QQ ran into a KK, and i doubled that guy up. i was down to the small stack, well under 1K in chips, but slowly built my way back up. with 15 players left i got lucky and my K2 beat a KQ to almost double me up, then we were down to 14 players, and quickly after that, 13.

we sat at 13 players for quite a while then. (top 9 were in the money). finally 13th dropped out, down to 12. within a span of about 4 minutes, i had A9 lose to 22, and then AJ lose to 77, and i even caught an A on the board on that one, unfortunately along with a 7... that was the end of my game.

but what made it even worse is that 2 other people went out at the other table right about the time i did. before i was even done screaming at my monitor, they were at the final table. dammit, maybe next week.

being a shepard

i knew i should have become a shepard.  but then i get to the end of the article only to find out that its not all about sitting around with you dog smoking a pipe all day long.  what a major blow to my dream of one day becoming a shepard.  i don't have a dog or a pipe, but thats what i want to do some day.  I don't mean I want to do that for a living, but just one saturday afternoon, i wanna sit with my dog in a field and smoke a pipe!

how many times....???

why does yahoo want me to verify my fucking password 8 times a day.  I don't even use yahoo as my main email provider, but still, somehow yahoo asks my for my damm password about 8 times every freaking day.  it disturbes me, i'm gonna start having nightmares about going to school and trying to open my locker, but then yahoo shows up and asks me what my locker password is.  every day i do it many times, but then that one day for some reason i just forget it.  and the only difference is not that yahoo laughs and points at me.  when it was just my locker i'd just walk away in peace, but now there a big Y and a big exclamation point pointing and laughing at me in front of all my friends.  but they are my friends so they know that i'm just gonna kick Y!'s ass after school, like i would normally do.

anyway, i think i will have my free psp deal completed now, so don't sign up now still expecting the dvd's.  for both of you guys that signed up today, i'll still give you the dvd's if you complete an offer!  i'll even post you links here if you give them to me!

cheers!
i'm goin to bed!

i remember what happened when manchester united said they wanted to go the entire year without a loss.  well i don't remember exactly what happened, but they didn't manage to even get close to that, in fact they lost more games than several other teams and probably finished 3rd or 4th that year!  i hope the same happens to the blues.

only one more for the free psp!

One person has earned the 9 dvd's!  Now I only need one more person to complete my free PSP offer!

get 9 dvd's full of music if you do, just click the link below and complete an offer!!!!

if i had a superpower, it would be to be able to read minds.
